Introductions

Since the beginning of time, there was me. Because, obviously, I cannot know what things were like before my existence. Or whether the world even existed before my first awareness of being.

There was a story I read once where Dawn, as The Key, accidentally made fictional universes real. But because she’d only watched so much and knew so much of their worlds, in the moment of creation their universes were made small. So, she traveled into the Deep Space Nine universe and offered the option of expanding their universe… which meant restarting everything. They agreed.

So Dawn restarted the Deep Space Nine universe and revisited it… and no one knew her. Because they had all been remade.

And when she went to the Wizard of Oz universe and offered them the same choice… Glinda the Good Witch told her No and followed up by telling her to GTFO and never come back.

Because to remake a universe, it must first be destroyed. And those people that made the wrong choice ceased to exist. And while versions of them continued on their great adventures and lived their wonderful and terrible and full lives… Those choice-makers were killed in the moment of recreation. All that they were and ever could have been ceased to exist in a moment of carelessness.

So while I know that I exist and I acknowledge that you exist… I cannot for sure state that either of us ever existed before my birth of consciousness. Just as you cannot state with surety that these word were ever here to be read before you started reading them.
